Hi All,
For those who haven't seen the previous version, Dropbear is a small
SSH2 Server and Client running on a variety of POSIX-based platforms.
It has been mainly developed by Matt Johnston
(see matt's web site).
PSPSSH is a port of the version 0.48.1 to the PSP.
If you wonder what a SSH client is, this homebrew is useless for you ...
* Change log : *
What's new in version 1.0.3 :
- New Danzeff keyboard layout
(alt keys are now available)
- New option to save the vt100 screen as a text file.
- New login menu
(more friendly, and with new options)
- Improve vt100 emulation
(for example, the nano editor works fine now)
- As Matt Johnston advice me, i've added a new
initial random seed generation, using keystroke latency
(you have now to press psp keys randomly,
the first time you run pspssh).
- bug fix in random number generator
- bug fix in key send function
- bug fix in vt100 emulator
* Credits and license : *
The terminal Vt100 emulation part of PSPSSH is based on the work
of Danzel for his Telnet client for PSP.
This software is distributed under several open-source/free software
licenses, and mainly the MIT/X Consortium License.
See LICENSE.txt file for all details and information about it.
It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.03-OE.
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
Thanks to Matt Johnston for Dropbear, to Danzel and Jeff Chen for their virtual keyboard,
thanks once more to Danzel for the VT100 emulation, and thanks to all PSPSDK coders.
Special thanks to Cool Matty for his feedback !
Enjoy,
Zx

Hi All,
Mancala is a board game familly, originated in East Africa. The word "Mancala"
came from arabic word "naqalah" that means literaly "To move". GP2XMancala
is the "Awari" variant, and even if the rule of this game is simple,
the complexity can be compared to chess Game.
The AI is based on the source code of H. Huseby & G.T. Lines, for their
implementation of the classical Minimax algorithm.
GP2XMancala is a port of my PSP version.
* Big big thanks to Julien who ported my PSP GnuGNO to GP2X *
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.
How to play ? Here is the rules available from awari.cs.vu.nl :
Awari is played on a board where each player owns 6 pits. In the initial
position, all pits are filled with four stones, thus the initial position has
48 stones.
The player to move chooses one of its own, nonempty pits and removes all
stones from the pit. The player then sows the stones, counterclockwise, over
the remaining pits.
If the last stone is sown into an enemy pit that contains 2 or 3 stones
after sowing, the stones are captured.
In this case, if the second last pit is also an enemy pit that contains 2 or
3 stones, they are captured as well, and this process is repeated clockwise,
until the own pit, or an enemy pit containing less than 2 or more than 3
stones is reached.
The player who captures most stones, wins the game. The game end when a
player cannot move, however, to avoid such a situation early in the game, it
is not allowed to do a move that leaves the opponent without countermove,
unless all moves eradicate the opponent.
Special thanks to all GP2X-SDK developpers.
Enjoy,
Zx.

The PC Engine Modem, or Tsuushin Booster, is a rare beast. According to at least one Japanese source 20-30 found their way into the hands of PCE fans for official testing. They were allowed to keep them. A further hundred, the story goes, were produced right before the peripheral was due to be released. Before the assembly line kicked into gear, the modem was canceled and the last hundred ordered destroyed. Some weren't, and occasionally pop up on Yahoo auctions. The PCE Modem is, you might agree, one of the rarest production accessories.
Chris Covell has purchased a Tsuushin Booster, for an undisclosed but no doubt ungodly sum, and put the entire thing online for our enjoyment.
While you're on his site, you might check out some of the other neat stuff he's got: Sega Master System hacks, a stack of prototypes and unreleased software from vintage game mags, the very rare Devil's Crush soundtrack CD, or perhaps his RGB page, or even his picross-for-PCEngine game, Tongueman's Logic.

This is a list of things of what not to do and what TO do incase your like me and started up a case mod
Bobby's spray painting tut for noobs by .... a noob
-Dont ever touch your project to check if its dry, wait... just wait
-Read the directions on the can
-for sanding use 350+ or if you really dont want to mess up anthing, 1000+ grit paper
-use paint that is for polycorbinate (plastics) ~i recomend krylon fusion as it doesnt need primer or bonding agents
-do not paint when it is cold or when it is raining
-do not let a new coat dry over night as it will probably get fogged up and stay like that
-make sure there is NO grease on your project, clean it with someting...
-if you touch your project before it is totally dry and gets all gummy, you have fallen into a hole and will probably have to wait till it is fully dry, then you will have to sand down everyhting untill you are at ground zero
-for really smooth sanding if you cannot find high grit sand paper, get 220 grit and a can of brasso. Sand it down with the 220, get a mask, put it on, then use the brasso on a rag and rub away untill it no longer looks wet (let it dry completely before puting a new coat on it)
-to get a finer mist and higher pressure soak your cans in warm, not hot water, for 5-10 min
-when painting wear goggles so your eyes dont go blind, wear a mask so you dont coat your lungs with un in haleable chemicals which will stay in your lungs forever, and wear gloves so you dont get paint on your hands and nails
-be patient
-dont put too much paint on at one time or you will get drips and runs
-paint in fine coats over and over again to get a nice smooth finish
-if have to sand down everything use a toothpick or some other small hard item to get the paint out of the mic and power light sections

Something I like to do in that magical time in-between quitting my job and actually leaving my job is look at stupid crap on the internet. It's harmless, zen-like fun that once in a while produces interesting finds, which I link to people on my buddy list with text like "haha this is awesome!"
One of my favorite archives of stupid crap is MercadoLivre, the Brazilian online auction site that is now affiliated with eBay. I like to look at their video games section because, as it turns out, I enjoy video games. A lot of the games stuff is imported from America, and that's boring. But there's some neat bootleggy crap too, and that's where the fun is!
Today I discovered, via several MercadoLivre merchants, that the Phantom System is easily available in Brazil! You may remember the Phantom home console, the pay-to-download streaming game console ready for launch since about 2003. I was about to link you to WhereIsPhantom.com, which was a pretty awesome blog for awesome Phantom and Infinium Labs news, but it's dead, and the domain forwards to an advertising portal now. I am sad, as indicated with the following emoticon:

Anyway. The Phantom may be hilarious vaporware in the United States, but it's enjoying healthy sales in Brazil, and if you'd like one, MercadoLivre has you covered. Here is a close-up photograph to study before making your purchasing decision. As you can see, they've abandoned the pay-to-download service for the Brazilian market, and have instead opted for a cartridge-based interface. Currently available titles include Galaga and Falling Block Game. The Phantom comes with one controller, which looks a bit awkward, though I do admire Phantom System's innovation in design.
With its high level of software piracy, Brazil seems an odd choice for a test market. But given Phantom's history, nothing surprises me anymore. Godspeed, Phantom System!

News from Play Asia
In these classic gaming news updates you will find a frequent summary of all classical titles which were added to our site. Availability is subject to frequent changes and fast decisions are recommended as we usually have only very few copies of those titles that are listed below. As always we are trying to expand our catalogue regularly.
As usual a huge restock has arrived at our warehouse and all restocks have been added to our online catalogue and can be ordered. All in all over thousand different titles have been restocked. In this news we'll show a summary of all restocks to the PlayStationâ„¢ and PlayStation2â„¢ categories.

Can you work on the frotz port for the gp2x?
It would be nice if the joystick / button combinations would bring up a list of available verbs / nouns.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi All,
Thom is one of the best emulator of the Thomson TO7 home computer running
on MacOS, Windows and Unix.
It has been initially written by Sylvain Huet in 1996 (see http://www.sylvain-huet.com),
then Eric Botcazou (see http://nostalgies.thomsonistes.org/) continued this project and
added many news features.
What's new in GP2X-thom version 1.0.2 :
- New speed limiter
- New sound volume handler
- New virtual keyboard position
- Help file can have up to 4096 lines
(useful to write your own documentation/cheat file)
- Bug fix in sound mute
- Bug fix in joystick handler
(Diagonals weren't properly handled)
- Bug fix in key mapping
(reverse Ltrigger and Rtrigger keys)
- New default keyboard mapping :
(press Trigger + Joystick to emulate cursor keys)
- Bug fix in menus
- Bug fix in file requester
(crash when moving up)
- Bug fix in exit handler
(should not freeze anymore)
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
If you're looking for games and software have a look here :
to7 games
This should be the final version (only if major bugs are found).
Enjoy,
Zx.
UPDATE: archive files were the old one, i've replaced them with the real 1.0.2 version.

[Tutorial][Newbie Proof] PSPnavi: How to turn your PSP into a GPS Navigation System or a Map Viewer
Well all the waiting has finally paid off; I got the gpsp cable today and read a few other forums on what I needed to do to make this happen, I did not find any tutorials on how to fully implement this anywhere else, so here’s my write up on how its done:
DIGG THIS
1.What you need to havea. A homebrew capable PSP (though tutorial explains how this works with DAX’s custom firmware only). 2. What you need to doa. Copy the mapViewer and mapViewer% folders from the mapViewer_v03 (in step 1(d)) folder to your game folder on your memory stick and make sure your kernel is set to 1.50 if you have any gps pther than the psp-290 (please refer to the FAQ in Deniska's discussion forum for important details on making this work with psp-290)
b. Copy the appropriate EBOOT file (depending on if u have a HOLUX GPS(or any other non psp-290) receiver or PSP-290) from the mapthis! 0.4 file you downloaded in step 1(e) into the mapViewer folder on your memory stick (overwrite the current one).
c. Copy the ‘system’ folder from the the mapthis! 0.4 file you downloaded in step 1(e) into the mapViewer folder on your memory stick (overwrite the current).
d. Start up your PSP to make sure the application runs fine and mess around with the sample map included of the London Tube. (if the app doesn’t run refer to the troubleshooting section)
e. Now that you have the mapping software, you need to download the map of the area you want to navigate through. Extract the File you downloaded in step 1(f) and go to GMDL/bin/Debug and run ‘Global Map Download Tool’ you should get the following screen:
f. Choose which website you want to get your map from the menu on the left e.g Google maps, Google maps satellite, VE map(MSN maps) etc.
g. Move and and zoom to the map until the area you see is what you want to put on your psp, for example if I wanted to put the map of Toronto on my psp I’d zoom to until I get the coverage I need:
To ensure you are getting exactly the area you want, you get the map to the approximate area you want, then click on the 'Preview 1x' button - That will show you what you will actually be getting on your PSP.
h. Now scroll to the top of the window and name your map in the ‘Map Name (start with _)’ . I know its obvious but make sure to start with an ‘_’ when naming your map e.g. I want to name my map Toronto I’d type _Toronto in the field.
i. If you don’t live in USA or Canada ignore this step. Now scroll down until the end of the menu on the left and check the geodata marker and USA or Canada depending on where the map your downloading is located. If you don’t live in USA or Canada ignore this step. The geodata of a map contains stuff like addresses, points of interests etc, Canada doesn’t have as much as the USA though.
j. Scroll up and click on the ‘Download the map’ button. You should get a popup, wait for the tiles to load and then your screen should look like this: To reduce the size of the map file uncheck any tiles that you don’t want available on the map, for example I just uncheck the ones that contain only water. Then uncheck the Zoom levels that you don’t need, all zoom levels are checked by default. When you’re done click on the ‘Uncheck any tiles which you do not wish to download to closer zoom levels, also uncheck any zoom layers you wish to skip, then click here’ button (longest button I’ve ever seen). It should take you back to the main window and go on the preview tab. The download progress is displayed on the Title bar of the window:
k. After the download is done depending on whether you checked the geodata option earlier, you either get a geodata window in which the program will automatically start downloading the geodata for the map and then another window will popup saying ‘you may now close this window’ or it will finish the the download and tell you that it finished creating the map.
l. After its done downloading the map. Close the application and copy the map folder (_Toronto in my case), located in GMDL/bin/Debug to the maps folder located in the mapViewer folder on your psp game file. My map was 23 mb in size; it varies depending on what type of map you choose (hybrid, sat etc) and the area you downloaded etc.
m. Go back to your psp, run the app and choose the map you just made, see if it works, try zooming going to the edges etc.
To build a hybrid map, follow the guides set up for a normal map, then uncheck "auto browser" and choose MS VE on the left menu bar. Wait for the MS map to load, then zoom in on the location as usual. Once there, choose "hybrid" next to VE Map on the left menu bar, and choose the hybrid button on the MS map page. Now you should be able to pull up the preview 1x and see the following:
(credit goes to ST240sx for the Hybrid map section)
And this is what you'll see after you generate the map using the normal method, and loading it on the PSP.
3. Creating Points of Interests (POIs)
Points of interests are points on a map that symbolize a certain location that you would like to be mared on the map.a. In GMDL, go to the ‘POI’ tab
b. Choose a POI using any of the maps OR download a file in KML (google map format), CSV (garmin format) or OV2 format that contains a list of POIs.
c. Enter the name of the POI collection starting with and underscore in the Save POI field.
d. Click on the ‘Save POI(start with _):’ button and copy the generated file in to the map folder you created earlier.
Creating POI Files in GMDL (credit goes to ST240sx):
The first step as described in the guide was to click on the POI tab at the top. Once the map loaded, zoom in until you have the entire city in the view. You'll want this so you'll get all the results, which you can simply add to existing maps of the area, and this will only display POI's for that map (did that make any sense?) Anyway...moving on.
Next, click on the "Get Numbers" box on the right menu near the top. You'll see all of the Lat & Lon for the area appear. Now type your search topic in the "seach for" box at the top of the right menu (not the web page). In my case, steak house, and then click the "List" box midway in the right menu, and wait for the list to load at the bottom (this may take a minute).
Once you have the list, use the scroll bar to reach the last entry and shft+click to highlight them all. Now change the "Icon" with the drop down, and give the POI list a title always beginning with "_" (I chose _DALLASSTEAKHOUSES for mine) and click "Save POI".
The save defaults to the debug folder in the MapThis!\GMDL\bin\Debug directory. You can now copy this to any existing or future maps of this same area, no matter how large, or small you make your map. The program will only display the POI's for the area you chose.
4. Creating a trip with directions for use with Mapthis!
NOTE: This is a better copy created by The-Avenger, all credit goes to him.
a. Start GMDL
b. Click the directions tab up the top.
c. Next to the list button, select 'Google'.
d. Change to maps.google.com to the appropriate address matching your country/where you live.
e. In the actual Google Webpage (on the left) press 'get directions' link.
f. In the 2 boxes that appear, type in the starting location in the first box, and the ending location in the second box. (Enter as precise as possible)
g. If went fine, you should see a line on the map going from the two locations, and directions on the left.
h. Type in the 'from' box on the right (not the google webpage, the GMDL feature on the right) whatit says on the left after 'From:'(that is on the google webpage).
i. Type in the 'to' under the 'from' box (The GMDL feature, not the google webpage) on the right what it says on the left after 'To:' (On the google webpage).
j. Press the 'Get Values' button.
k. Press the 'List' button.
l. If all went well, the directions down the bottom right should be the same on the left in the google webpage. (Please ignore the MIDPOINT things.)
m. Type in a name after the 'Save POI (start with _):' button. Such as: _To My Mum's House
n. Press the 'Save POI (start with _):' button.
o. The file should be in the debug folder.
p. Drag that file into the map folder that it belongs to in your PSP MMS.
5. Connecting a GPS receiver to the PSP to enable tracking and navigation.a. Go to ms0:PSP/GAME/mapViewer/system and open the config file using notepad.
b. Change the baudrate depending on the one that your gps reciever uses, if u don’t know, its usually in the manual of it in the specifications section.
c. Change the speed fix depending on if you want your speed values to be in mph or kph.
d. Change the altfix dependnig on if you want it in feet or metres.
e. Change your time zone offset of the GMT in your area
f. Leave everything else for now.
g. Disconnect your psp and run Mapthis! And connect your GPS reciever to your psp via he cable you bought or made (refer to the ‘What you need to have’ section)
h. Press square to acivate GPS mode, the map should scroll until your location is in sight. Drive around to make sure the values of in the side panel are accurate.
i. Mess around with the application to find out what buttons do what (not while driving of course) TroubleshootingQ: Mapthis! won't start, what’s wrong?
A: Make sure you are running the 1.50 kernel and that you copied the right EBOOT in the right place.(This app has only been tested with 3.03 OE firmware not 2.71 SE)
Q: The Global Map Downloader application will not start, what’s wrong?
A: You need to have .NET framework 2 or higher installed.
Q: The area coverage I chose in GMDL doesn’t match the map it created, why?
A: This happened to me too, just make the area in GMDL bigger to ensure the map on your psp has all the area you need.
From member PDG, all kudos goes to him:

Hi All,
Stella is on of the best emulator of Atari 2600 game console,
running on many different systems, such as Linux, Solaris, Windows, MacOS/X, WinCE, OS/2, GP2X.
It has been written initially by Bradford Mott, see Stella site for details.
GP2X-2600 is a port on GP2X of my previous port to PSP.
My PSP version is based on the work of Aenea who was the first to port Stella to PSP,
and David Voswinkel who's now in charge of the PSP port in Stella team.
What's new this version :
- Add MMU hack stuff
- Add option to display frame rate
- New speed limiter function (better accuracy)
- Improve volume handler
- Improve speed (now up to 70 fps at 200 Mhz)
- Linked with my patched version of SDL
- Bug fix in .zip feature
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
This should be the final version (only if major bugs are found).
Thanks to Stella team for this nice emulator, and to all GP2X-SDK
developpers.
Enjoy,
Zx.

Have you ever wanted to play your Japanese import Famicom carts on your NTSC-U/PAL NES but found out it was to small? Well if there's a nearby video game store that still carries NES carts, rejoice!
Here's how you can find one. Go to any store that still sells old NES carts (GameStop, etc). Look for old games for example: ExciteBike, Hogan's Alley, Gyromite, or Wrecking Crew.
The cart should feel slightly heavier than a normal NES cart.
Step 1:
Look on the back to see if it has 5 screws. The cart can have 5 screws, but it does not guarrantee that it contains the converter.

Step 2:
On the front label, see if it does not have any grippers.

Step 3:
Look on the inner edge where the slot chip is, facing the front of the cart upwards.

If the whole chip is gold, then you have yourself a cart with a converter! If it has some green close to the inner part, then you have to try another cart.
The game should have this seal:

It should read: THIS SEAL IS YOUR ASSURANCE THAT NINTENDO HAS APPROVED AND GUARANTEED THE QUALITY OF THIS PRODUCT.
